Poolside Patio Refresh

It’s summer!! The kids are out of school, the weather is HOT, and we’re hanging poolside most days. We have a covered patio just off the pool for taking a break, enjoying some shade, and sharing a drink and some snacks.

It’s a great space, but it needed a little sprucing up. The rug was too small for the sectional, and the all brown color scheme just didn’t mesh with our vibe. It had potential, and it just needed a refresh to take it from fine to fabulous!

I headed to Old Time Pottery and found the most beautiful selection of outdoor pieces! This group of shades of turquoise made me so happy, and I knew they were the pop of color my patio needed! Wait til you see the garden stool…SWOON!!!

Y’all! Can you believe the difference? It’s so fresh and fun now, don’t you think? Let’s start with the rug. It’s the right size to fit under the edges of the entire sectional and ottomans with room to spare, so it visually marks off this space as an outdoor room. Isn’t the pattern just dreamy? I can’t say enough good things about an outdoor rug…they’re so easy to clean and they are literally made to withstand the elements. I’ve used a few inside my house over the years because we can get messy. Haha!

Next up, the garden stool. All the heart eyes, right???? I had found a similar one online for around $150, but this one was less than $60 at Old Time Pottery!! I could not get it in my cart fast enough!

Throw pillows are the easiest way to add a pop of color or pattern to a space. Be sure to look for pillows with outdoor fabric so they will wick away moisture instead of absorbing it. I am a sucker for cabana stripes (so classic!), and Old Time Pottery had cabana striped outdoor pillows and cushions in a variety of colors.

The last piece of my patio refresh was this showstopper turquoise and gold serving tray!

This tray is a beautiful marbled pattern, and it has handles to make carrying cocktails from the kitchen to the pool a breeze. It also wipes off easy and is made of plastic, so there’s no worries that it will get broken if it’s accidentally knocked over. Add a small vase of flowers, and it even looks fancy!
